You describe the wonderful power of music: it can give us inspriration and motivation and it can help against the feeling of hopelessness in these strange times. So i would like to pass on your "thank you" to all the great women and men writing and playing wonderful music. As Leonard Cohen wrote: "...but we have the music".

All the best to you and your loved ones for the new year! zerohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06780173748528969886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8460537495421082815.post-39206881172828561582017-01-02T10:16:34.420-08:002017-01-02T10:16:34.420-08:00Thank you for all the great music posted last year...Thank you for all the great music posted last year and in prior years and the emotional highs that come from listening to it. Like vuoksenniska,I can think of no better way to begin the new year than with the incredible talent of Billie Holiday and, among other songs, her version of Abel Meeropol "Strange Fruit". The song not only serves as a reminder for me that nostalgia for a restoration of allegedly better times is absurd, but also always makes me remember the story of his parents, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, and the injustice of the death penalty. I am very much looking forward to what you will post this year.

I really should divide my music collection into B. Z. and A. Z., before and after Zero. You consistently post so much that is wonderfully eclectic, difficult to find anywhere else, and in a variety of languages that I can never thank you enough for the incredible enjoyment I and my family derive from it all. Except for what has been previously posted, I download it all. Not being a musician or adept at analyzing or even understanding composition, I can only convey thanks for what delights my ears and gut because words and a descriptive musical vocabulary otherwise fail me and I don’t want to risk becoming redundant and repetitious by just writing “Thank you” in response to the many individual posts I love.

I especially appreciate the implicit political context and significance of many of the posts. At this time of reactionary nationalism, intolerance, and bigotry in western many countries, listening to Pete Seeger, Barbara Dane, and others who lived through equally difficult times inspires and motivates one to organize and work for change, rather than wallow in hopelessness and inaction. I will leave it with simply expressing my gratitude for the time and effort you and others expend to providing an excellent blog. The very best in the coming year to you and all who aid you in making this blog possible
Feilimid O'Broinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01684099397717301472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8460537495421082815.post-15761257336717483202017-01-02T07:54:04.498-08:002017-01-02T07:54:04.498-08:00Billie Holiday singing!
