VA - Jackpot Of Hits & Explosive Rocksteady

This album is culled from two records produced by Joe Gibbs between 1968 and 1969. Gibbs first started producing in 1966, and has worked with legends such as Clement "Coxsone" dodd, Lee "scratch" Perry, and Prince Buster.

The first record, "Jackpot Of Hits," contains one of the first true rocksteady songs "Hold Them" by Roy Shirley, and it is this song's unique rhythm that helped create a genre. This record features the engineering/board work of Lee Perry.
The second record, "Explosive Rocksteady," was mixed down by Niney The Observer and is every bit as tight as Perry's work. These records feature beautiful vocal harmonies and the tightest musicians available.
