Ernst Busch - Der heilige Krieg - Frieden der Welt (Aurora, 1967)

Ernst Busch was a famous German actor and singer and a prominent figure of the international communist movement. He is known for his interpretations of Kurt Weill's and Hanns Eisler's compositions and Kurt Tucholsky's and Bertolt Brecht's pieces. Ernst Busch was also the founder of the label "Lied der Zeit GmbH" (1946), the predecessor of "Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin".

"Der heilige Krieg - Frieden der Welt" is a set of two EPs and an informative booklet with 44 pages about the songs and their historic context. It is one of two editions of Buschs "Chronik in Liedern, Balladen und Kantaten aus der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts" honouring the 50th anniversary of the "Great Socialist October Revolution". The other edition - "Oktobersturm - Aufbau" - will be posted in some days.

The tracks were recorded between September 1966 and September 1967 under the direction of Adolf Fritz Guhl. "Der heilige Krieg" is a recording by the Alexandrow-Ensemble (Sowjet Union), dubbed by Ernst Busch with german lyrics.
The last track is a german-english-french-russian version of the "Lied der Einheitsfront".
