Sarah Gorby - Chansons russes et tziganes

"There can be no-one better than Sarah Gorby for interpreting these popular Russian and Gipsy songs which she collected and selected so lovingly, for Russia was the land of her childhood and Russian her mother-tongue.

With its exceptional sensitivity the voice of Sarah Gorby clearly expresses the feelings of the Russian soul: Melancholy, violence and nostalgia, the language of passion, the spontaneous appeal which is both strong and gentle in these popular songs whose synthesis engendered Russian lyrical writing.

In its sincerity are to be found the gravity, the emotion, the fervur and all the riches of the Slav soul.

Sarah Gorby died in 1980." - From the booklet.

I neither speak nor understand much Russian but this selection and the Vladimir Visotsky posts are wonderful. What I'd like to know is what used Stasi or Bundesnachrichtendienst equipment did you purchase at the onset of this blog to detect my musical tastes so well? I guess one gets a little paranoid living in the town in which Edward Snowden attended school and only ten miles from the National Security Agency which I have driven by all too frequently. Many thanks for all that you do and provide.

Allo Even if I'm not ok with the facts at Ukraine I appreciate you not "apartheiding" russian people and their culture.
Happy that someone sees no frontiers regarding human nature and the beauty of sounds,
Down here in Argentina russian, finns and ukranians escaping first world world war found common ground colonozing (curiously) the subtropical area of Misiones and convived peacefully.
They made valuable contributions to the local cultura in their own way.
I'm sure you're aware of Chango Spasiuk, great folk musician and archivist of the eastern settler's music in that distant jungle. Even nazis lived there.
Danke noch einmal und Grusse aus sudliche Patagonien Eisfeld,

Thanks a lot for your feedback - that is exactly the reason for posting music from Russia in the last days: Saying the war against Ukraina is a crime does not mean to discriminate culture from Russia. All the best and greetings to Argentina!
