Walter Mossmann & Heiner Goebbels‎ - Unruhiges Requiem

Walter Mossmann, also spelled Moßmann (born 31. August 1941 in Karlsruhe, died 29. May 2015 in Breisach) was a German singer / songwriter and political activist. In the anti-nuclear movement Mossmann represented the typo of intellectual political singer who, from a decidedly anti-capitalist position, used songs to politically enlighten his audience. He held an undogmatic left-wing viewpoint and found himself in constant battles with other left-wing groups in the anti-nuclear movement, who, like the K-Gruppen or the DKP, tried to use the protests for their own ends.

In 1983 he recordod together with Heiner Goebbels the "Unruhige Requiem", a sound collage honouring his friend Tonio Pflaum, who worked as a doctor in Nicaragua and was killed by the US-supported Contras.

With the "Unruhige Requiem" «überschreitet Moßmann die Grenzen des politischen Liedes, gelangt zu einer neuen, grandiosen Form, in der sich avantgardistischer Gestus und aufklärerischer Anspruch, skrupulöse Reflexion und das Pathos der Verzweiflung treffen.» (Thomas Rothschild, Frankfurter Rundschau, 1983)
